Connect his domain name to his Yoctown website
Connect a domain :
When you connect a domain, your domain is still with the web provider you bought your domain name to (for example OVH, Gandi, 1&1, etc) and is just linked to your website thanks to what we call the “aim”. Each domain name is linked to DNS (Domain Name System) servers - they allow identifying your domain name thanks to a digital address.
If you change those DNS, your domain name will be assigned to the website your DNS are assigned to, you will aim your domain to the website you want, by simply changing the DNS.
When you simply connect your domain, the modifications linked to your domain, such as your information update or even invoicing, are only made since your domain web provider’s website. On the contrary, when your domain is transferred, it changes the web provider and it belongs to a new one.
Transferring a domain
If you transfer a domain, it will change the web provider. Any modification related to your domain (change of DNS, information about you, connection to your e-mails, information related to sub-domains, etc.) will be done since this new web provider.
Yoctown does not provide a service for domain name hosting. If you want to connect your domain to your Yoctown website, you just have to change your domain DNS and put instead Yoctown’s:
dns1.yoctown.com
dns2.yoctown.com
You will find here a tutorial to make a DNS change on OVH and another on here on 1&1.
By following these tutorials, you will be able to attribute your domain name to your Yoctown website.
If you do not have a domain name but you would like to attribute one to your website, you will find in this rubric an explanatory tutorial to subscribe to a domain name with OVH and link it to your Yoctown website.
